Last updated: August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WhichOTT ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit whichott.com or use the WhichOTT mobile app. By using our website or app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
01 Information We Collect
WhichOTT does not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily contact us.
We may automatically collect certain non-personal technical information when you visit our site, including:
- Your approximate location (country/region level) — used solely to show you relevant trending content
- Browser type and version
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Referring website or search query that brought you to WhichOTT
- IP address (anonymised where possible)
This data is collected through standard web analytics tools and is never used to personally identify you. Data collected specifically by our mobile app is described in the next section.
02 WhichOTT Mobile App
The WhichOTT Android app is free and requires no account or sign-up. In addition to the approximate-location handling described above, the app collects the following:
- Anonymous usage data (Google Analytics for Firebase) — events such as which screens you open and in-app searches, used to understand which features are used. This is not linked to your identity.
- Crash & diagnostic data (Firebase Crashlytics) — crash reports and basic device information (e.g. device model and OS version) so we can diagnose and fix bugs.
- Feedback you send — if you use "Send Feedback" in the app, we store your message together with your app version, device model, and country so we can respond and act on it.
- Approximate location — the app detects your approximate country from your IP address to show region-relevant results. You can override it any time with the in-app country picker. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Your watchlist, viewing history, selected subscriptions, and OTT-release alerts are stored only on your device — they are never uploaded to us. Release notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging; you can turn them off in your device settings at any time.
These features are provided by Google Firebase, which uses an app-instance identifier to aggregate the analytics and crash data above. See the Firebase Privacy and Google Privacy Policy pages. The app uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
03 How We Use Your Information
Any information we collect is used strictly to improve your experience on WhichOTT. Specifically, we use it to:
- Show trending movies, TV shows, and anime relevant to your region
- Understand how visitors use the site and app so we can improve them
- Diagnose and fix technical issues and crashes
- Deliver the OTT-release notifications you choose to enable in the app
- Respond to messages sent through our contact form or in-app feedback
We never sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
04 Third-Party Services
WhichOTT uses the following third-party services to power its features. Each has its own privacy policy:
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — We use the TMDB API to fetch movie, TV show, and anime data, streaming availability, and trending information. See TMDB's Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics (GA4) — On our website we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate region, and device/browser type — so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies to measure this. For visitors in the UK and EU/EEA, analytics is disabled by default and only runs if you accept it via our cookie banner. You can opt out at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase — In our mobile app, we use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics for anonymous usage and crash data, Cloud Firestore to store the feedback you submit, and Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications. See Firebase Privacy and Google's Privacy Policy.
- ipapi.co — Used to detect your country so we can show region-relevant trending content. No personally identifiable data is stored by us from this service. See ipapi.co's Privacy Policy.
- flagcdn.com — Used to display country flag images next to streaming platform availability. This is a static image CDN with no tracking.
- Google Fonts — Used to load fonts (Bebas Neue, DM Sans). Google may log font requests. See Google's Privacy Policy.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
05 Cookies & Local Storage
WhichOTT does not use advertising cookies. We use two kinds of cookies (or browser local storage):
- Essential preference cookies — small technical cookies that remember your choices, such as your selected country and your cookie-consent decision. They are never shared with any third party or used for advertising or profiling.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — used to measure how the site is used so we can improve it. For visitors in the UK and EU/EEA, these are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner; elsewhere they are enabled by default. You can decline, or clear them any time via your browser.
Third-party services (listed above) may set their own cookies in accordance with their privacy policies. Clearing your browser data removes all of these.
06 Data Retention
We do not store personal data on our own servers. Any information collected by analytics tools is retained only for as long as necessary to understand performance and is subject to those tools' own data retention policies.
Feedback you submit through the mobile app is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) and kept only as long as needed to address it. Analytics and crash data are retained per Google Firebase's default retention periods.
If you contact us via our contact form, we retain your message and email address only for as long as needed to respond and resolve your query.
07 Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
- Right to access — Request a copy of any data we hold about you
- Right to erasure — Request deletion of your data
- Right to restrict processing — Ask us to limit how we use your data
- Right to object — Object to our processing of your data
Since we collect minimal data and require no accounts, most of these rights are automatically satisfied. To exercise any rights, or to request deletion of feedback you submitted in the app, please contact us.
08 Children's Privacy
WhichOTT is a general-audience service and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
09 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Continued use of WhichOTT after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
