John Farbrother is a documentary editor with nearly twenty years of experience. His first feature, Louder Than a Bomb, won the Humanitas Prize for Documentary and was selected for the U.S. State Department's 2011 American Documentary Showcase. He co-edited the Academy Award-nominated, Emmy-winning PBS Frontline film Abacus: Small Enough to Jail (dir. Steve James), and edited Finding Yingying (2020, dir. Jiayan "Jenny" Shi), winner of the SXSW Documentary Special Jury Prize for Breakthrough Voice. His recent work includes the 2025 Peabody Award-winning One With The Whale, the Oscar-shortlisted, Peabody-nominated Hidden Letters (2022), and The Dating Game (2025), both directed by Violet Du Feng.
